Friends of BCAS receives ASPCA grant to help pay for shelter animals’ medical care

The Friends of the Burlington County Animal Shelter are thrilled to announce that we have received a $750 grant from the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals’ Lil Bub’s Big Fund to help pay for medical expenses that the county cannot cover.

These funds will be used to help pay for Lemon’s hip surgery and physical therapy and Jerome’s dental surgery, among other cases.

“This year, the Friends of BCAS have stepped up to fund the medical expenses of animals that exceed the county’s resources,” said Theresa Kopasz, president of the Friends of BCAS. “This year, our medical expenses are already close to $60,000. We have covered heartworm treatment, a severely broken leg, knee surgery, hernia surgery, cancer surgery, wound care, pneumonia, as well as chronic conditions such as epilepsy and diabetes. Without intervention from our group, animals requiring extensive medical care may be subject to unnecessary suffering. We are so appreciative of this grant.”
